Sunday Setlist: 11/1/09
Over the past few years, our church has typically focused on two things during the month of November: missions and stewardship. To kick off that emphasis this year, we had a dramatic presentation of the life of the founder of our denomination (the Christian and Missionary Alliance).
A.B. Simpson lived a full and passionate life in pursuit of Jesus Christ and the call God placed on him. His learnings, discoveries, and passion formed the basis for what it known today as the Christian and Missionary Alliance.

Jesus Only (Simpson, Burke)
Dismiss: Jude 24-25
It was a great morning. We had pretty even crowds in both services (probably due to the time change piece). Both services had a fresh level of energy that was great. It was really enjoyable worshiping together this Sunday.
We had a technical snafu in the first service with the history spotlight video, so I had to pitch hit and summarize the content of what would have been communicated. Nothing like adapting on the fly. We then taught the congregation one of the hymns written by Simpson called “Jesus Only.” It’s a song that really captures the core of our foundational belief the Jesus is our Savior, Sanctifier, Healer, and Coming King.
The dramatic message was great. The presenter was in full garb to look like AB Simpson, and did a great job laying out his life, his journey to a deeper relationship with Christ, and what that meant for him in ministry and life. I knew the story of Simpson from my own education, but it was great to see it presented in this context and to connect with the passion that Simpson had for Christ and the proclamation of the message. I hope that many people caught of glimpse of our denomination’s foundation and the man who God used to bring it about and that many will desire the same passion that Simpson displayed and lived out.
If you were there, let me know what was significant for you as we worshipped together.

They were great services! Worship was amazing, I felt such a sense of God’s presence and connection with the congregation. Don did an excellent job as A.B.! I loved hearing about his passionate desire to follow Jesus only.
