[Video] Who Is Jesus to You?

Ran across this video online. Not only is it very well done, but it’s simply just great.

Be encouraged today about who Jesus is.

Who is Jesus to you?

Worshiping Together: 9/26/10

We continue our journey of understanding what it means to be the body of Christ as the church. This week we focused on our identity in Christ and the resulting “togetherness” because of that. (Is that a real word, or did I just make up a church word?)

Our Scripture focus was Ephesians 2:11-22. To be able to live in the new entity of the church (the God created), we need to grasp that our identity and place in the church is because of Jesus drawing us together, not because we deserve to be there (which, be honest, we sometimes forget).

As we gathered, we took time to remember and celebrate what God is doing, who Christ is, and the assurance we have in that our identity is secure in and because of Jesus. Continue Reading…

[QOTW] Knowledge of God

“Knowledge of a Being cannot be gained by study alone. It comes by a wisdom the natural man knows nothing of, neither can know, because it is spiritually discerned. To know God is at once the easiest and the most difficult thing in the world. It is easy because knowledge is not won by hard mental toil, but is something freely given. As sunlight falls free on the open field, so the knowledge of the holy God is a free gift to men who are open to receive it. But this knowledge is difficult because there are conditions to be met and the obstinate nature of fallen man does not take kindly to them”

-AW Tozer, The Knowledge of the Holy,1961, pg 115.

Worshiping Together: 9/19/10

This was week 2 of the “Church Mysteries” series that we are doing this fall. We took time to day to look at the foundation of the Church, which is Christ as is written about in Colossians 1:15-20. The foundation is a result of His supremacy and means He holds the headship of every church. Before we can exist as the Body of Christ, we must know the essence of Christ.

As we gathered this week, we wanted to remember and celebrate Christ. We wanted to be reminded of the generations of faith that we stand upon.

Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and aliens, but fellow citizens with God’s people and members of God’s household, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone. In him the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord (Eph 2:19-21). Continue Reading…

[QOTW] The Highest Privilege

“The people of God who form the church in all its rich diversity share the highest privilege known to mankind, that of participating in the beauty, joy, and goodness of the Lord, of being satisfied in Christ and giving Him satisfaction.”

Worshiping Together: 9/12/10

Welcome! Thanks for checking out what we did together as we worshiped this past weekend. This past weekend was the beginning of many things. We returned to our two service schedule after a summer of one service. We also began a new series that will carry us through the fall called “Church Mysteries: Revealing What It Means to Be the Body of Christ.”

As we enter into a season of transition and search for a new senior pastor, we wanted to take some time to remind ourselves of what it means to be the church of Jesus Christ. Over the next eight weeks, we will explore a number of biblical pictures and themes related to who and what we are. This first week was a kick-off week that set the stage for us. Continue Reading…

[QOTW] Worship: The Center of Congregational Life

“Worship stands at the center of congregational life (1) when there is an expectation of encounter with God in worship, (2) when preparation for worship is taken seriously by worship leaders and worshipers, (3) when the programatic life of the congregation supports worship participation for people in all circumstances of life, and (4) when reflection on the worship is pervasive throughout congregational life.”

[QOTW] Demonstrating the Father’s Love

We are to seek to demonstrate in our lives the perfect love that has existed between the Father and the Son through all eternity. It is the reality of love in our lives which will be one of the most powerful means of people in the world seeing the beauty of the message of Christ. By our love people will know that the Father sent the Son into the world. By our love for one another, people will know that we are loved by God.”
