Life is full of favorites.
We have our favorite food, color, place to vacation, tv show, movie, and clothing item.
(For me it’s cheese, blue, historic cities, Good Eats, Return of the Jedi, and my Pumas and hoodie.)
As Christians, we also usually have a favorite Bible verse or Bible story.
(Proverbs 3:5-6 and Jonah)
And a favorite song.
I’m curious today what your favorite worship song is. Not just your current favorite, because there are a lots of great new ones always coming out, but your all-time favorite worship song. (A current favorite of mine is Great I Am by Jared Anderson)
The one that you come back to repeatedly. The one that has played a role in encouraging you, sustaining you, and reminding you who God is whether times are great or tough.
For me, the all time favorite worship song is Blessed Be Your Name by Matt and Beth Redman.
This song, which has a strong connection to the story of Job in the Bible, has been a constant encouragement and reminder to my wife and I. Our journey with Christ has been full of ups and downs. Some seasons have been easy ones to worship in, and others have been harder. But no matter the season we have found ourselves in, this is a song that has consistently reminded us that whether the times are good or bad, the name of the Lord is worthy of praise. And so we have chosen to bless the name of the Lord.
As David wrote in Psalm 9:1-2
I will give thanks to you, LORD, with all my heart;
I will tell of all your wonderful deeds.
I will be glad and rejoice in you;
I will sing the praises of your name, O Most High.
That’s my all-time favorite worship song.

This is an impossible question. I can at least say Lion of Judah by Paul Wilbur and the hymn When I Survey The Wondrous Cross make my top 10, probably top 5. But I would have to think about it in depth to answer definitively. Have to agree with Beck Gambill – How Great The Father’s Love is very strong, and is in my top 10 as well.
In many ways, you’re right, Steve. In all fairness, I would probably choose a different song depending on the phase of life I’m currently in. All great songs you mention. Thanks for stopping by.
“How Great the Father’s Love for Us” always touches my heart. Nothing in life can overwhelm the beauty of His sacrifice and when I focus my heart and mind there I’m reminded everything else is fading away compared to the treasure of Christ.
