What idea or content do you need a fresh perspective on in figuring out or communicating?
We continued our November mini-series “Generous Living” this week as we continue to explore issues of stewardship and generosity as we do each November. These can be difficult topics to handle well and hard topics for people to hear in the church. But they are biblical topics that are very important for people who want to live a Christ-honoring life in every way. Perhaps we’ve made them hard issues because we’ve handled them poorly in the past. Our approach isn’t so much to beat the drum to just give more, but to live a life of generosity toward others in our day.
This week we looked at the topic “How Much Is Enough?” It’s a significant question without a necessarily clear answer. We jumped into 2 Corinthians 8:1-5 and following to take a look at how generosity was displayed among the early church, and what principles might be significant for us today in the United States. Sorry for missing last week. We continued the series in 1 Peter this week. Many Christians live today as if the world were our final destination. We pour our life resources and energy into things that will barely last 50 years, let alone eternity. We frequently cave in to the old sinful desires. We struggle to remain faithful in the midst of great suffering. We’ve lost sight of the glorious inheritance waiting for us.
God calls us to live as “strangers” in this world, spiritual sojourners that are just passing through. As children of the living God, our focus should be on eternity as we point people to the living Christ who paid it all for us. Our priorities and lifestyle should undergo a radical transformation. If you’ve been thinking about getting into video or audio editing, I would recommend the Sony product options. I use Vegas for my video editing after starting with their Home Movie Studio version. The learning curve was small, and they have great support forums.
If you’re interested, the Sony Media Software website is currently offering a 35% discount on anything in their on-line store until March 20, 2009. You can either have it shipped or download some stuff.
