[Song] “Joyful” Music and Painting

One of worship leader/songwriter Brenton Brown’s latest songs is called “Joyful”. (Amazon link) It’s built on the base of the classic “Joyful, Joyful, We Adore Thee.” It’s a great expression of the joy and worship we offer to Christ because He is the one who saves and forgives.

Recently, painter Scott Erickson painted a picture to go along with it and capture the joy of it.

On this Monday after Easter, be encouraged that Christ is risen, and because He is risen, we can place our faith, hope, trust, and joy in the truth of who He is and what He has done.

Enjoy the creativity and expression of worship.

[Song] Come On (My Soul)

I don’t know that I can put my finger on it exactly, but I really enjoyed this video and song. It’s from a newer group called Rend Collective Experiment and is off of their new album “Organic Family Album.”

Maybe it’s because they just really seem to be enjoying what they are doing together. Perhaps I’m naive, but it seems authentic.

By the way, these are the guys who did one of the first iPhone worship song videos. You can watch it here.

HUGE Worship Resource Giveaway

UPDATE: The contest is over, but Proclaim is now available to try out in beta.

Who doesn’t like to get great stuff? Especially if you’re involved with worship ministry and regularly deal with tight budgets and limited resources. But how often does it seem that a giveaway offers a great prize, but the odds of winning are huge? And if you’re like me, it seems like you never win the big prizes, or know anybody who does.

If that’s you, then let me share with you about the

$25,000 Worship Resource Giveaway from Proclaim

New church presentation software is coming out soon called Proclaim and it’s located here http://proclaimonline.com. Unlike all other church presentation software systems, this one will allow pastors, worship leaders, and worship team members to all access and add to the same presentation before it’s presented, and then use the same application to run the presentation during the service. Instead of being a product that you have to install, it’s web-based.
To add to the excitement of the release of Proclaim, they are giving away $25,000 in worship resources in The Great Worship Resource Giveaway. They are going to have 100’s of winners of some of the best worship resources on the market. The giveaway is located on the Proclaim home page http://proclaimonline.com where you will see how to enter. You can also see all the prize partners there, listing out some great resources from companies like Planning Center Online, Graceway Media, Worship Leader Magazine, Centerline Media, Musicademy, Clover Sites, Christian Musician Summit, Luna Guitars, National Worship Leader Conference, and prizes from many more. These are some great resources. I’ve used many of them, and they are top notch companies with top notch products.
I’m excited about this new product Proclaim. It looks to be really awesome and flexible, especially for those in a situation where a lot of volunteers work at preparing media for Sundays. You can see a video of the software on their site which gives a quick detail of how it will help worship leaders and ministry teams. Visit http://proclaimonline.com to see the video, and enter ‘The $25,000 Great Worship Resource Giveaway’.

Worshiping Together: 1/30/11

This week we took a break from our “Love God, Love Others” series where we have been focusing on the letters of the Apostle John to the church.

If you’re a regular reader of these posts, you know that our church has been engaged in a search process for the next senior pastor. Recently, the search committee and Governing Board narrowed it down to a particular individual and invited him to come and candidate. After he accepted the invitation to come and candidate, the leadership wanted to take opportunity to share with the congregation how God has been present and leading in this process.

So, we spent this past week focusing on God’s faithfulness to the church in these days. Continue Reading…

Worshiping Together: 12/26/10

As we gathered for the final Sunday of 2010, we also gathered for the final segment of the Myth or Miracle series. Throughout the Advent/Christmas season, we’ve taken a journey through the Christmas story of the Bible. Is it real, or just another of the many stories told at Christmas time? If it is real, what does it mean? How does it impact us?

For the final segment, we drew in the story of the wise men from Matthew 2:1-12. We know that the wise men were not part of the nativity scene as is often depicted. We know that it is much more likely they showed up anywhere from 1-2 years after Jesus was born. However, they are a part of the story, and a part that doesn’t get told as much for many reasons. We wanted to finish the story out with them, not only because of the example of worship they give, but to take the opportunity to answer the question of why. Continue Reading…

[Video] No Drummer? No Problem…

Finally, there’s an answer to the age-old question that can plague your average worship pastor. “What do I do when there’s not a drummer, and we have no natural rhythm?”

Well, apparently, the David Crowder Band has solved that problem. Check out Steve-3PO.

And here he is in action at a concert (just one of many examples).

It seems that when they were recording their Church Music album, their drummer recorded multiple drum tracks for some of the song. When asked how they were going to accomplish the layered drums in live concerts, he came up with the idea of building a robotic drummer.

Love how these guys are so creative and innovative.

(Thanks, John)

[Video] Awesome Christmas Light Musical Fantasticness

I came across this video a few years ago. Simply amazing what this guy accomplished with the Christmas lights in his house. I actually didn’t live too far from this place in Ohio, but never got to see this live. The video isn’t the best quality, but it’s worth watching.

A whole lot of lights, time, computers, controllers, and other fantastical techno goodness combined with some great music by the Trans-Siberian Orchestra.

I went looking recently to see what others had done. After all, as they say, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

I found this one, which is much better video quality.

But I also think I actually like the original implementation a little better.

I also found this guy’s house, but to a different Trans-Siberian Orchestra tune. It’s pretty good, too.

Thanks. Hope you enjoyed this and were both entertained and inspired.

[Video] Creative & Cool Music Video from David Crowder

Ran across this on a couple of other sites on my journeys through the internet (including here). This is a new music video from David Crowder and his band for their song SMS [Shine]. I love the creative approach and how the different elements interact. I don’t want to give it away, so watch the video below and let me know what you think.

(Thanks, John)
